I’ve got a buddy who will hate this. He thinks that robots are going to take over.

Amazon’s home security company, Ring made headlines after premiering some of its new technology. The Ring “Always Home” cam will feature a flying camera that allows customers to use a drone to protect their property.

Per CNN, the device was introduced at an “invite-only” online hardware event. Users can create a path for the drone to fly using the app. The camera can also fly to a particular area of the property if it detects a disturbance; recording the action on site. Apparently the device only for in-home use and will be activated if the alarm is tripped.

“We know when something happens our customers want to be able to see exactly what’s going on, but it’s not always feasible to have whole-home coverage,” Leila Rouhi, President of Ring said when asked about why the drone was crafted.

When asked about the privacy issues the company shared the drone is purposefully loud. It’s believed that the noisy machine will alert others when it is in use. I guess to ‘curb’ the idea of being spied on by the government, or whatever conspiracy theory there is.
