The Maryland Transit Administration will increase the single-trip fare for the local bus, subway and light rail 10-cents, up from $1.80 to $1.90. The fee for a monthly pass will rise $2 from $72 to $74 effective June 23
The MTA said that state law requires transit fares to go up every two years after an increase in the consumer price index, which measures inflation.
Commuter bus and Marc train fares are not affected by the increase. The MTA reviews and raises those fares every five years. The next review is in 2020.
