High-fives and photo-ops were a-plenty Tuesday as President Barack Obama sat courtside at the Chicago Bulls game.

Halfway through the first quarter of the game, Obama strolled in with a huge smile on his face to sit courtside and mingle with fellow basketball enthusiasts, who were no-doubt surprised to see him. Obama may have a million things on his plate, but he still makes time for his beloved Chicago Bulls.

At halftime, he spoke with reporters, saying he was excited to see the Bulls in the Eastern conference. He also spent time praising LeBron James for his scholarship initiative with Michelle Obama.

“That kind of character that we’re seeing in the NBA is really making a difference and I just wanna let them know I really appreciate it,” he said.

LeBron, for his part, was thrilled to see him in attendance.

“I believe our league is the greatest league that we have in the world. We have the greatest athletes and greatest fans,” LeBron said Tuesday. “So [for] the president of the United States to grace us on opening night in Chicago, I’m just honored.”

Obama was in town to speak to the International Association Of Chiefs Of Police, which was likely a tense conversation. But he didn’t let that show for a moment at the game. So cool was our president, in fact, that he even made time to pose with fans, including not one, but two babies.

Now that, folks, is how it’s done.
