This morning ABC aired the full interview of Juror B29, who refers to herself as “Maddy” with Robin Roberts. Juror B29 is the first juror to come forward and show her face. As the only juror of color, Maddy has an unwanted responsibility to answer the questions many Trayvon Martin supporters have–”How could you not convict a killer?”

Maddy’s answer? “I’m the only minority and I feel like I let a lot of people down. We had to prove that when he left home, he said, ‘I’m going to kill Trayvon Martin.’”

During the interview, Maddy opened up about George Zimmerman’s devastating acquittal, claiming, “A lot of us wanted to find something bad, something that we could connect to the law.” As a mother of eight, Maddy says that she feels the pain of Trayvon’s mother, Sybrina Fulton–who released a statement after Maddy’s TV appearance:

“It is devastating for my family to hear the comments from juror B29, comments which we already knew in our hearts to be true. That George Zimmerman literally got away with murder. This new information challenges our nation once again to do everything we can to make sure that this never happens to another child. That’s why Tracy and I have launched The Trayvon Martin Foundation to try and take something very painful and negative and turn it into something positive as a legacy to our son.”
