Late Wednesday after the Knicks got back to New York we learned that Carmelo Anthony had been suspended for one game with no pay for the confrontation with Kevin Garnett. While Carmelo wont be on the court to play against the Pacers on Thursday he will lose about $176,700 of his $19.4 million salary & if you’re wondering about Garnett he was not suspended. And if you’re wondering why Carmelo got suspended Stu Jackson the leagues executive vice president for basketball operations says
“There are no circumstances in which it is acceptable for a player to confront an opponent after a game”. “Carmelo Anthony attempted to engage with Kevin Garnett multiple times after Monday’s game, and therefore a suspension was warranted.
Anthony, who said that Garnett crossed the line with his trash talking in the second half, would not acknowledge rumors that Garnett made a comment about his wife, the actress LaLa Vasquez. He said he would no longer discuss his dispute with Garnett.
“That’s over with,” Anthony said Wednesday. “I don’t want to go back to that.”
