Wednesday morning outside of City Hall the family of slain Officer William Torbit, Jr. organized a call for justice. Just last week City State’s Attorney Greg Bernstein announced that charges would not be filed against the officers accused of killing Officer Torbit. The decision outraged the family as well as members of the community. Community leaders and citizens gathered to vow that Bernstein’s decision will not be the final word.

Four months after that tragic evening outside of Select Lounge where Sean Gamble and Officer William Torbit, Jr. were shot dead.

No government officials were present at the peaceful rally. City State’s Attorney Greg Bernstein did call into WOLB 1010AM’s Larry Young Morning Show to discuss the case. In a statement Bernstein said, “My responsibility is to determine whether there were any violations of criminal law caused by any intentional conduct on the part of these officers that would have amounted to a violation of criminal law.”
