As summer kicks off, Baltimore City’s public pools are getting ready to welcome swimmers, with some important updates for 2025 that visitors should know.

The Baltimore City Department of Recreation and Parks announced that beginning this Saturday, select city pools will open on weekends only. These include:

  • Druid Hill
  • Lake Clifton
  • Middle Branch
  • Patterson
  • Riverside
  • Roosevelt

Weekend pool hours will be split into two sessions: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Mayor Brandon Scott expressed confidence that the pools will open smoothly, though he joked about the early-season temperatures: “We’ll be ready to go, but I doubt anyone’s jumping in at 10 a.m. when it’s 57 degrees,” he said.

This year, each park pool will close one day a week for cleaning and maintenance:

  • Mondays: Druid Hill, Lake Clifton, Riverside
  • Tuesdays: Middle Branch, Patterson, Roosevelt

Weekday operations for both neighborhood and park pools will officially begin on June 17.

Swimmers will notice some changes this year, including:

  • Free lockers replacing the old coin-operated ones
  • New locker rules: At Druid Hill and Patterson Park, bring your own lock; the other park pools will have combination lockers
  • 20 updated pool rules to follow
  • Civic Rec account requirement: All swimmers must have an active Civic Rec account to access city pools

“We want to remind residents that a Civic Rec account is required to use our pools,” said Rec and Parks spokesperson Manny Gonzalez.

New Neighborhood Pools Debut

Three new neighborhood pools are opening this season:

  • Towanda (West Baltimore)
  • Coldstream (East Baltimore)
  • Walter P. Carter (East Baltimore)

To keep the public informed, Baltimore Rec and Parks will host a community meeting to discuss pool updates, summer programming, locker procedures, and plans for park pool service days.

📍 When: Wednesday, 6–8 p.m.

📍 Where: 3001 East Drive
