Gabby Samone Reflects On Her American Idol Journey And What’s Next

Gabby Samone has always been a star, but her time on American Idol brought her talent to a global stage, shining a light on her voice and her story. Recently, Gabby sat down with The Quicksilva Morning Show to share her reflections on the iconic competition, her inspiring experiences, and her next steps.
Kicking off the conversation, Gabby shared what it felt like to see her hometown rally behind her. “I remember riding through the city and seeing billboards that said, ‘Vote for Gabby.’ It was so surreal,” she said with a smile. “I felt like it was bigger than me,” she explained. “Seeing someone who looks like us and celebrates us on national TV meant everything.”
Her rise to the Top Seven sparked conversations about representation and what it means to bring more diversity to platforms like American Idol. Gabby noted the power of her season in breaking barriers, stating, “We brought so much attention, especially as Black contestants, and introduced a different demographic to the show. It felt like we made history.”
Despite her massive success, Gabby admits the sting of elimination was real. “I was disappointed,” she said honestly, recalling the moment she didn’t advance. “I was expecting to get through that round, but after the initial disappointment, I reminded myself that I’d be good regardless. My time wasn’t wasted.”
She reflected on the intensity of filming, adding context to the stress behind the glittering performances, and while navigating the demanding reality of competition, Gabby found solace in her friendships with fellow contestants. “This was the best group of people,” she gushed, describing the bonds formed on set. “We laughed so much in the studio, even during long days. Everyone genuinely loved each other.”
Now, post-Idol, Gabby is laser-focused on her future. “American Idol is life-changing, whether you win or not,” she said. The exposure and experience have opened new doors, and fans can expect her to keep the momentum going.
Her team suggests she take a short hiatus to regroup, but Gabby isn’t ready to stop. “I don’t think there’s time for a break,” she explained. “The momentum is there, and I want to strike while the iron’s hot.”
From representing her city on a national stage to becoming a fan favorite known for her powerhouse vocals and heartfelt performances, Gabby’s legacy is only just beginning. Check out the full interview below:
