According to the National Weather Service, the threat of a potentially significant snowstorm in the Baltimore area has increased. Forecasters say a strong area of low pressure will bring an elevated winter storm threat to the region late Sunday into Monday.

There is increasing confidence concerning potential travel impacts and closures, especially for the Monday commutes. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Friday in the Baltimore area as a line of snow squalls is expected to move through the area on Friday afternoon.

The weekend will end with mostly dry weather on Sunday ahead of the next weather-maker. Meteorologists say that there is a lot of uncertainty with this system, but as of now, it looks like snow will move into Maryland after midnight Monday and last at least into the early afternoon.

It is too early to say how much snow Marylanders could see.
