To register to vote in Maryland, you must live in Maryland or you must have lived in Maryland just before moving overseas.
NOTE: If you are voting from overseas and you did not live in Maryland just before moving overseas, you cannot register and vote in Maryland.
Important deadlines to know prior
- Online registration deadline: 21 days before Election Day
- Register by mail deadline: Must be postmarked 21 days before Election Day
- In person registration deadline: Available up to and including on Election Day
To register to vote, your personal information has to match the information about you that is on file with the Maryland MVA.
These are the things that have to match:
- Your name
- Your date of birth
- Your driver’s license number, ID number, or Learner’s Permit number
- The last 4 digits of your SSN
- Your signature at the MVA will become your official voter registration signature.
