Harriet Tubman is known for the Underground Railroad. Born in 1820 in Maryland she escaped slavery and helped hundreds of enslaved people reach freedom by way of the Underground Railroad. She out smarted the slave owners by using safe houses along her route. Harriet Tubman was the first female to lead a group of men into war!
