What’s up HBCU Alum, Students and Fans!
That’s right this is the time of year when all the Alumnae make that trek back to their Alma Mater to catch up with old friends, take in step shows and break bread at diners , take in the Homecoming football game and travel down memory lane ( some memories a have a little more dust on them than others).
All in all it’s a great time! Just ask the Alum of Virginia Union, Miles and Bethune-Cookman who watched their football team’s cap off this past weekend in winning fashion! Union feasted on the lions of Lincoln 61 to 13 (Note to Lincoln! Stay out of Richmond on Unions Homecoming weekend).
The Golden Bears of Miles Mauled Clark-Atlanta 28 to 7 and The Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman carved up the Aggies of North Carolina A&T 28 to 12 for a Homecoming win.
Now, as I understand it, Homecoming is a festive occasion. Right?
So that means you win your big game to make your weekend an awesome experience, well
Some teams did not get that memo; Central State lost to Missouri S&T 27 to 21, West Virginia State lost to West Liberty 52 to 19 ( That Hurt) , Livingstone lost to St Augustine’s 32 to 27 and
Mississippi Valley State invited undefeated Alabama A&M to their homecoming game and allowed them to leave still undefeated with a 35 to zip win.
Meanwhile there were some Classics over this past weekend as Tuskegee beat back Morehouse 21 to 14 in the 77th Annual Tuskegee-Morehouse Classic, North Carolina Central took flight against South Carolina State 40 to 10 in the 29th Annual Circle-City Classic , Albany State beat Lane like a drum 36 to 14 in the Music City Classic, Prairie View beat Grambling State 31 to 14 in the Southwest Airlines State Fair Classic and Morgan State left Savannah State seeing more blue than pink in the Think Pink/Blue out in Savannah 45 to 6 .
There are still only three unbeaten schools in all of black college football and Alabama A&M is one. The defending Black College National Champion Winston-Salem State Rams are now 5-0 as well after beating Johnson C. Smith 63 to 7 and Tennessee State is also unbeaten at 5-0 after slipping past Eastern Kentucky 23 to 20.
Closer to Baltimore: The Bulldogs of Bowie State knocked off Chowan 35 to 31 and Howard is now 4-1 after beating FAMU 17 to 10.
