Michael Jackson, born on August 29th, 1958, was the eighth of ten children born to parents Joseph Walter “Joe” Jackson and Katherine Esther Jackson. Michael’s mother was a devout Jehovah’s Witness while his father was a steel mill worker, performed with a group called “The Falcons”, and developed his children into the performers that they are today. Michael’s siblings included sisters Rebbie, La Toya, and Janet and brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, and Randy. In 1964 Michael joined his brothers; Jermaine, Tito, Jackie, and Marlon; to become The Jackson 5 eventually emerging as the lead singer even though he was the youngest of the five. The group went on to create multiple top 40 hits until they left Motown in 1975 but not before preparing Michael for the solo career no one could have imagined.
