From Young Simba to R&B Star: Jaydon Talks Music, Usher and CIAA Stage
Source: R1 / R1

Baltimore’s CIAA Weekend energy hit the studio as 18-year-old singer, dancer and actor Jaydon stopped by the Quicksilva Morning Show ahead of his highly anticipated performances. The California native, whose smooth vocals and Gen Z heartthrob appeal have drawn comparisons to Usher and Chris Brown, shared how his fast-rising career is already placing him among industry heavyweights.

Jaydon revealed he is signed to legendary music executive L.A. Reid and global superstar Usher, a partnership he says has shaped his artistry over the past year. He explained that his journey began at just 16, when he connected with Reid’s son in Atlanta and started working with major songwriters. From there, Reid and Usher took notice. “It changed my life and my outlook on artistry,” Jadon said, crediting the duo with teaching him performance fundamentals and artist development.

Long before industry deals, Jaydon was a creative kid writing songs in his bedroom. He laughed as hosts pulled up lyrics from his first track, “Text You,” written at age 12. The nostalgic moment highlighted his early songwriting instincts, which have since evolved into polished radio releases. His current singles “I’ll Be Good,” “Flamed Up” and “Lullaby” are gaining traction, with music videos already reaching millions of views online.

Beyond music, Jadyon’s résumé includes acting roles and voice work, notably portraying young Simba in a Lion King remake, achievements he credits to supportive parents who encouraged his ambitions from age six. “I always felt like I could be on TV,” he said.

Despite rapid success, Jaydon maintains a grounded outlook, telling listeners he hopes to build his career before settling down. “I want to get married and have kids later,” he said. For now, he remains focused on music, performances and connecting with fans.

With major co-signs, viral videos and a national tour on deck, Jaydon’s CIAA weekend debut signals what many are calling his breakout year.
