Tray Chaney's Tornado Survival & His Son's Recovery Journey
Tray Chaney Shares Emotional Journey Following Tornado Survival On The Quicksilva Morning Show

Actor Tray Chaney recently opened up on the Quicksilva Morning Show about his harrowing experience surviving a tornado with his son, Malachi. On May 29, 2025, without warning, a powerful tornado devastated their home, leaving their family forever changed.
“The wind didn’t sound like wind,” Chaney recalled. “It sounded like a train in my backyard.” Within moments, their home was destroyed, and Cheney and his son were left fighting for their lives. Malachi suffered severe injuries, including multiple facial fractures, and spent six days in the ICU before beginning his recovery.
“He’s out of ICU now, but it’s a long road ahead,” Chaney said, expressing gratitude for his son’s life while sharing the challenges they face. Malachi is undergoing surgeries to repair his injuries and is working on walking again. Through tears, Cheney described the emotional toll on his family and how their outlook on life has shifted. “Material things don’t matter anymore,” he noted. “All I care about is my son being 100 percent.”
Despite the tragedy, Chaney spoke of his strengthened faith and determination to support his son during recovery. A GoFundMe campaign has been created to help cover medical expenses and support the family during this difficult time.
