A manhunt is underway for notorious Mexican drug kingpin Joaquin Guzman, aka El Chapo, after he managed to escape from Altiplano Federal Prison, said the country’s National Security Commission.

El Chapo, which means “Shorty,” is reportedly the head of the #Sinaloa cartel—one of the world’s most powerful and deadliest drug trafficking organizations. At one point, Guzman claimed he was “just a farmer” but had an estimated net worth of $1 billion in 2012 and was ranked 67 out of 72 on Forbes’ 2013 World’s Most Powerful People list.

His cartel is also allegedly the largest supplier of heroin to the United States.

This is the second time the cartel boss has escaped from a maximum security prison. Back in 2001, he escaped from Puente Grande prison in a laundry cart and eluded capture for over a decade before authorities arrested him at a beach resort in February 2014.

El Chapo was last seen on surveillance cameras entering the showers at the Altiplano prison and is believed to have escaped using a mile-long tunnel.
