Penn State football coach Joe Paterno announced today that he will in fact retire at the end of the season, after 46 years of coaching. He’s been thrown into a SHATTERING child sex abuse scandal at Penn State where 8 boys were molested over a period of 15 years. Paterno’s former assistant coach, Jerry Sandusky, is one of the major suspects in this scandal. Paterno was involved after a graduate assistant came to him in 2002 and told him that he witnessed Sandusky molesting a 10-year old boy in the Penn State showers. Paterno failed to report the incident.
The school’s board could still force Paterno to leave his post immediately.
