About an hour before Whitney Houston’s funeral began, it was reported that Aretha Franklin (who was scheduled to sing at Houston’s funeral) would not be in attendance, because she was ill.

“Regretfully, I am so sorry that I was unable to be with you at Whitney’s service today,” said Franklin in a statement.

“I had every intention of being there. But unfortunately I had terrible leg spasms and locked leg muscles until 4:00 a.m. this morning following my concert last night, which I’ve been having for the last few days.”

“I feel it necessary and very important to stay off my leg today as much as possible until concert time this evening. My heart goes out to my dear friend Cissy, Dionne, Bobbi Kristina and the rest of the family. May God keep them all,” said Franklin.

Well, just hours after releasing that statement (her God-Daughter’s body wasn’t even in the ground yet), The Queen hit the stage in New York City. *confused face*

Is it just me or does this seem a little messed up? She couldn’t make Nippy’s funeral, but was well enough to hit the stage hours later. If she was sick, she didn’t have to perform but at least show up. Hmmm…No disrespect to the Queen of Soul, but “C’mon Son”
