Grammy-winning singer Alicia Keys has clarified past statements she has made regarding plans to retire by her 30th birthday.

According to the 29 year-old, she was merely expressing the option of retiring but has no intention to any time soon.

Speaking with British TV host Jonathan Ross, Keys set the record straight on a previous statement she made about retiring at the age of 30. Keys told Ross,”I was just saying that I would like the option to be able to retire by 30. I feel very blessed… but I definitely have so much more to do. I have so many things that I want to do, so many more things I want to get involved in, important things I want to do… I have to perform, I love it so much.” (BET)

She has also hinted at her desire to collaborate with more artists.

“Working with other people is definitely something I want to do more of,” she said of her recent trend towards collaboration. “I love it a lot. It takes me out of my element into a whole other world. I’d love to collaboratewith Kings of Leon and M.I.A. I think would be crazy.” (RRT News)

Reports in 2008 suggested that Keys was seeking a cut-off retirement age.

R&B singer Alicia Keys has decided she wants to retire by the age of 30 – so she can spend the rest of her life travelling the world. She says, “I am working hard now so I have the choice to retire when I want. “I would like to travel the world and stay in places instead of having to move on like I do now. I want to experience difference cultures.” (Contact Music)
