J. Cole hit the scene heavy with this weekend’s release of his anticipated album, The Off-Season. I’m not supposed to say that it’s a perfect album, so we’ll keep it moving. One particular line in his song ‘Let.Go.My.Hand’ has the internet buzzing. It references the infamous altercation between Diddy and J. Cole’s entourages.

Hear the line below. It’s at the 1:39 mark:

So, it happened.

Honestly, I wasn’t hip to the 2013 incident.

The two stars were at PHD Dream in Downtown Manhattan. The ‘Control’ record had just dropped and Kendrick Lamar’s verse ruffled quite a few feathers in the industry; including Diddy’s. Kendrick was also in the club. According to HipHopDX, Diddy had attempted to pour a drink on the TDE rapper in frustration over his “Control” verse. Cole was not pleased with Diddy’s actions and the two entourages began to scuffle. Both sides had always denied the incident but Cole fessed up on ‘Let.Go.My.Hand’.

I always knew that ‘Control’ verse was historic.
