The Feds have indicted 20 people including correctional officers, employees, contractors, inmates and outside facilitators on federal racketeering charges at the Maryland Correctional Institute Jessup.

The defendants smuggled drugs, cell phones and tobacco in to the Jessup prison.

“The indictment also alleges that some officers engaged in sexual relationships as part of the interactions that took course during the course of the conspiracy,” said U. S. Attorney Robert Hur.

This is the third prison corruption investigation at Maryland institutions in the past five years.
