The Senate Republicans and Democrats were unable to come to an agreement on funding late Friday night (Jan. 19, 2018), which resulted in the shut down of the government for the first time in more than four years. Instead of President Donald Trump trying to defuse the situation, he blamed the shutdown on Democrats.
Trump tweeted, “This is the One Year Anniversary of my Presidency and the Democrats want to give me a nice present.” He also added a “#WeNeedMoreRepublicans18 in order to power through mess.”
