Sports curator for the museum, Damion Thomas said, “The National Museum of African American History and Culture has nearly 40,000 items in our collection. The Colin Kaepernick collection is in line with the museum’s larger collecting efforts to document the varied areas of society that have been impacted by the Black Lives Matter movement.”

Kaepernick at one point was supposed to get his own display, but not anymore.

This past weekend NYPD officers held a rally in support of Kaepernick where current and former cops wore #WeStandWithKap t-shirts as well as taking a knee for the NFL athlete and activist.
