The iconic ‘Rocky’ franchise had unforgettable moments: from Apollo’s devastating death to Rocky’s triumph over Drago. But something about Creed reigns triumphant over its preceding films.

1.Because Michael B. Jordan.

While Sylvester Stallone was a sexy dark haired, olive skinned sex symbol in his time, we appreciate the modern day twist on the classic hero with Michael BAE as the lead. We can relate to his millennial angst to prove his worthiness.

2.Because the music.

While the other Rocky films had pretty killer soundtracks, the heart stopping beats of hip-hop and electro-pop had us all sitting in the theaters jamming.

3. Because Tessa Thompson.

It was dope to see a co-starring supportive girflriend really have a unique story of her own. Bianca was a truly developed character that had her own dreams and aspirations aside from supporting her leading man.

4. Because Cinematography

Director Ryan Coogler was able to use modern movie magic to make those fight scenes even more cringe-worthy and intense.

5. Because Ryan Coogler

While we are at it, the eye of this rising director is incredible. He had this way of making us feel like we were in the ring with Adonis Creed, or peeping into deeply imitate moments between Creed and BAE Bianca.

6. Street Biking Culture In Philly

How cool was it to see the street biking culture integrated into Adonis’ training scenes? The director really put effort into making Philadelphia a character of its own with cheesesteaks and jawn.

7. Michael B. Jordan

And did we mention Michael B. Jordan? Oiled up? With his teeth all white and dimples on fleek?
