Just a year after being kidnapped Cal Ripken Jr.’s mom  Vi Ripken was held up at gun point Tuesday after leaving a bank in Aberdeen. According to police officials Vi Ripken was approached by a man who demanded her car, she was able to scare off the man by pressing the panic button on her key ring which led the man to flea. Thank God Vi Ripken was not injured in the attempt robbery and the man is now in police custody.  Aberdeen police spokesman Lt. Fred Budnick said,

“There is no indication he had any involvement in last year’s case. And there’s no indication he knew who she was, right now it appears to be a crime of opportunity rather than a targeted issue.”
