We asked 92Q listeners to send in their nominations for Baltimore’s Top 30 Under 30 for 2013 and we’ve chosen the best and the brightest young movers and shakers in the area to make the list. Come by daily during the whole month of February for a new member to the Top 30 Under 30 Club. (Listed in no particular order)

6. Marques Dent

Marques attended Tennessee State University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Information Systems. While at TSU, he joined Air Force ROTC and earned a full academic scholarship. Marques is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc, 2005 Beta Omicron initiate. At 21 years of age, Marques was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force and stationed at Scott Air Force Base, IL. He earned his Master’s degree from Webster University in Information Technology Management by attending night school at Scott AFB. In 2010 Marques began working at the Pentagon supporting the Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff in the National Military Command Center. He concluded his military career in September 2012 at the rank of Captain, as a decorated officer.

Currently Marques is a Legislative Assistant for the 44th District of Maryland focusing on Community Relations and Workforce Development. He serves as Program Director for the Back to School for Baltimore and Holiday Help for Baltimore initiatives. Also, Marques serves as IT Program Director for the Oliver Community Association, as well as being the Sponsorship Partner with Save the Villages, Inc. Additionally, he works as an IT instructor for Kaplan Higher Education at Baltimore’s TESST College location. Finally, Marques attends evening classes at Morgan State University working towards his Doctorate in Urban Education and Leadership.

Marques has devoted his life to service and education. He is a firm believer that information is the key to success. At every opportunity, Marques provides the information and knowledge that he has obtained to others. Marques is deeply rooted in his community, he coaches youth baseball at Northwood Baseball League, serves as Chairman for Back to For Baltimore school supply drive, and serves as Youth Mentor for Crusader to Crusader.
