Mamie Rearden of Edgefield, South Carolina died at 114-years-old. She was the oldest living U.S. citizen according to The Gerontology Research Group, which verifies age information for Guinness World Records. Rearden became the eldest person in the country last month after the passing of 115-year-old Dina Manfredini of Iowa. According to the group, Rearden’s birthdate of Sept. 7, 1898, was recorded in the 1900 U.S. Census. (I told you Virgo’s last the longest!)
Rearden was a year younger than the world’s oldest person, 115-year-old Jiroemon Kimura of Japan.
