Robin Thicke, born March 1977, is an award winning  American-Candaian R&B singer-songwriter, musician, composer, and actor. Robin Thicke has penned hits for popular artists such as Jennifer Hudson, Usher, and Mary J Blige. He is well known for his work on popular albums – Confessions and Tha Carter III.

His parents, Gloria Loring and Alan Thicke are both successful actors. With his mother starring on Days of Our Lives and his father on Growing Pains. Throughout his childhood Robin was exposed to music by Bruce Springsteen, Luther Vandross, and Whitney Houston.

Thicke has written numerous songs. Such as, Brandy‘s “Love Is On My Side”, 3T‘s “Sexual Attention”, Mya‘s “No Tears On My Pillow”, and Christina Aguilera‘s “When You Put Your Hands On Me”.

In 2000, Thicke simply went by his last name and went on to debuting his album titled Cherry Blue Skies.

In 2002, he released his debut single “When I Get You Alone”, which sampled Walter Murphy‘s “A Fifth of Beethoven”. The song brought him a bit of recognition and was incorporated in several McDonald’s ads. The success of the song led him to release A Beautiful World.

Robin Thicke was signed to The Neptunes label, Star Trek in 2005. There he began working on his second studio album entitled The Evolution of Robin Thicke. The first single “Wanna Love U Girl” featured producer Pharrell and experienced chart success on urban raadio. The Evolution of Robin Thicke featured Lil Wayne and Faith Evans. Robin went on to touring with India.Arie and John Legend to promote the album.

He then went on to releasing two more singles off of the album – “Lost Without U” and “Can U Believe”. In 2007, Thicke finished promotion for the album as the featured opening act for Beyonce‘s The Beyonce Experience.

Thicke released his thrid solo album, Something Else on September 30, 2008. It debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 charts and sold nearly 140,000 records the first week. Thicke released his fourth studio album Sex Therapy in the winter of 2009. Thicke worked with Jay-Z and Nicki Minaj.

Just last year Robin Thicke released his fifth studio album, Love After War. The album has produced two singles including “Pretty Lil’ Heart” featuring Lil Wayne.

Thicke is currently a father and married to wife of 6 years, Paula Patton.
