Ashanti Douglass was born on October 13, 980 in Glen Cove, New York. She is best known for her hit “Foolish”, which stayed on the billboard charts for 11 consecutive weeks landing her a spot in the Guiness book of world records. Foolish also sold 7.2 million copies to date. Ashanti has won numerous awards. In 2003, the self-titled debut album won Ashanti her first Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B album. Her music influences are Whitney Houston , Janet Jackson, and Madonna. She is involved with many charities. In 2011 she participated in a National PSA with Denzel Washington to promote education. This PSA was directed by renown Film Director Ron Howard and produced by Brian Grazer. It is currently running on national network TV. She is currently in the studio working on her 5th solo album which is being released on her own record label, Written Entertainment.
