A woman was raped while moving into her apartment earlier this week in Mt. Vernon. Police arrested the perpetrator shortly after the incident following the hard work of the Mount Vernon-Belvedere Association.
“It worked out great. We put out the information to [Mount Vernon-Belvedere Association’s] subscribers, and within hours we were flooded with a location of this individual,” police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said at a news conference.
Therefore, we are asking why can’t other communities organize like this one in Mt. Vernon?
Here’s what people are saying on Twitter:
MalSr86: “people r either scared to cause a change or just really dont care. too much of a “as long as its not me” attitude. so until people step up thats what it is It only takes a few to start it then afew more to promote the following of a + change.”
LOLAvsNecole: “Rap Music=Stop Snitching Movement so I guess the Mt Vernon community listens to another genre of music.”
Bjaysamazing82: “I don’t understand what’s wrong wit communities! I just think you gotta choose wisely where u move these days! #HomeOwners”
And on Facebook:
“I agree with u becuz the ‘non snitchers’ would want someone to say something if it was someone close to them.” -Monyette Smith
