16-year-old Emily Kerstetter was on a mission to help those in need in Uganda when she was injured in a vicious attack. Family said that the teen is currently in South Africa recovering from surgery to repair a shattered leg. She is expected to have a long road to recovery. She has another surgery scheduled for later this week.
The teen as well as several American missionaries were inside of a restaurant at the time watching the World Cup. A friend who was with her at the time of the explosion wrote on her blog that Kerstetter thought she was dead but her friend reassured her that she was still alive buy calling her name.
Family and friends gathered for a prayer service at Mount de Sales Academy.
