On Tuesday, police arrested the 22-year-old live-in boyfriend of a woman whose 7-year-old daughter contracted gonorrhea, charging him with second-degree rape.

This case was reported the same day police received report of a toddler being raped by a live-in boyfriend. The cases are unrelated.

The girl did not reveal any sexual abuse and the mother was unclear about how her child contracted the disease. As a precautionary measure. the mom has tests conducted at University Hospital and when her results returned positive, she immediately became alarmed. The couple met with officers at the child abuse unit of Tuesday where the boyfriend acknowledged sexual contact with the child.

The charging papers indicate charges of second-degree rape, third-degree sex offense, second-degree assault, and custodial child abuse charges. The boyfriend is being held without bail.
