The Robin Roberts interview with Janet Jackson airs tonight, and in a preview the pop star’s sister confirms that the Jackson family tried to stage interventions for Michael Jackson, but they were unsuccessful.

Janet Jackson, the younger sister of Michael Jackson, allowed cameras into her Malibu home for the first time ever. In an intimate one-on-one interview, Robin Roberts asks Janet Jackson about Michael’s drug addiction, and the family’s efforts to address it.

Roberts asked Jackson if there was a time when the family thought that Michael needed help. Jackson replies, “Of course. Those are the things that you do when you love someone. You can’t just let them continue on that way. We did a few times. We weren’t very successful. “

When asked how Michael reacted to the interventions, Janet Jackson said that Michael understood they were being done out of love. However, Jackson also alluded that Michael Jackson didn’t know the extent of his addiction. When Roberts asked specifically if Michael Jackson was in denial, Janet Jackson replied, “I wish he could answer that question and not me.”

Superstar Michael Jackson passed away on June 25th. His sister Janet has said that she holds Dr. Conrad Murray responsible for his death. In a recent interview with ABC News, she said, “He was the one that was administering. I think he is responsible.”

Robin Roberts’ interview with Janet Jackson can be seen tonight in its entirety on “In the Spotlight with Robin Roberts” that airs tonight at 10:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
