gay_marriage_largeOXFORD, MS, March 11, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A small town Mississippi High School has decided to cancel its school prom after the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) demanded the school permit a female student to wear a tux to the prom and attend with her lesbian partner.

Now the ACLU is suing the school, asking the courts to force the Itawamba County School District to hold the prom and permit 18-year-old Constance McMillen to attend with her lesbian partner and to cross-dress. (Read the full story at www.lifesitenews.com)

Here is what YOU had to say:

J. Perry: Very Tough To Call, (Gay) has never been popular in society until recently (last few years) and it just doesn’t sit well with most adults, especially older adults. I think that the prom should not have been canceled but, those sexual practices cannot be displayed in schools or school functions. Don’t punish the other kids for that!!!

Mark G: this backwoods, backwards ass school is dead wrong !! However, I saw the girl at the center of the drama. You might WANT her to wear a tux LOL

J. Brown: I feel like to each his/her own….not saying it’s right but who am I to judge? It’s almost like when the kids have their proms they’re off into their own little cliques anyway so why not let whoever decides to go with the same sex go? That’s not fair for everyone else if it’s only one or two students that want to go to prom like that. I don’t think that’s cool. It’s a lot goin on in this world now….smh

You would think that these two girls were behind all of the worlds problems or something..I mean, these are just two girls trying to go to the prom and have fun like most other teens across the USA. There are more pressing issues out there than two girls trying to go to prom together. If they want to stop two kids from doing something, they should do something about teen pregnancy..and what about all that violence in our school? With all the actual problems going on in our schools, the support of this kind of intolerance and hate that is definite step in the wrong direction. As far as the dress code..what kind of slippery slope are we living on where a girl wearing a tux to prom leads to people coming to prom naked? If that’s the case, we could just as easily revert to a time of segregation where blacks and whites couldn’t go to prom together..I’m just saying, it’s 2010. If we have to draw lines, we should draw them in the right places to end hate, not in the places that bring more hate. How do you think those girls will be treated by her peers now that they can’t have prom?
