Today he became the first former player to be a majority team owner in the NBA when his $275 million bid to buy the Charlotte Bobcats was unanimously approved by the league’s Board of Governors on Wednesday.

Jordan will take over the money-losing team immediately from Bob Johnson after serving as a minority investor with the final say on basketball decisions since 2006.

“Purchasing the Bobcats is the culmination of my post-playing career goal of becoming the majority owner of an NBA franchise,” Jordan said in a statement. “I am especially pleased to have the opportunity to build a winning team in my home state of North Carolina.”

Among the outspoken African-American political and social figures that have criticized President Obama for not doing more for black Americans in these tough economic times, Al Sharpton has emerged as the voice of support for Obama’s presidential initiatives designed to help all Americans.

According to an article written for The Wall Street Journal, “President Barack Obama has turned to Mr. Sharpton in recent weeks to answer increasingly public criticism in the black community over his economic policy. Some black leaders are charging that the nation’s first African-American president has failed to help black communities hit hard by the downturn, leaving party strategists worried that black Democrats will become dispirited and skip November’s congressional elections.”

Sharpton used the platform of his national radio show to fire back stating that “The president does not need to get out there and do what we should be doing,” adding that if the President did just that, it would create just the right climate for conservatives and other Obama critics to defeat legislation that would actually assist blacks, rather than hurt them.

On one particular show, Al Sharpton and Tavis Smiley, prominent black talk show host, butted heads over this issue where Mr. Sharpton stated that “…it was a ‘double standard’ for Mr. Smiley and other critics to expect more from a black president than they would demand of a white Democratic president.”

Although during most of his campaign, President Obama steered clear of historically radical black civil rights leaders, Al Sharpton is now an unlikely ally in addressing the concerns of some black leaders and establishing solidarity for the president.

“The truth is Gabourey would like to lose some weight but the reality is that she would not have gotten the role of Precious if she had not been heavy. As her mom I would like to see my daughter healthy but if she didn’t lose weight that’s not a problem either – it runs in our family.”

In fact, they “have relatives that are 80-years-old who are too heavy” so “it works in different ways for different folks.”

Regardless of whether her daughter loses weight or not, Ridley has full faith Gabourey will continue thriving as an actress.

“I’m proud of my daughter no matter what and the truth is that there are all kinds of acting roles for all sorts of people.”

Rumors have also been circulating around Hollywood that producers want her to do Celebrity Fit Club. A diet company has also reportedly reached out to the actress to get her to endorse their product. However, Ridley has yet to hear anything.

“I have not heard anything about her appearing on Celebrity Fit Club or any of these dieting companies getting Gabby to try and endorse their products.”

All in the name of “saving face”… I believe the two of them are meant for each other. Only a certain type of woman would sleep with a married man, and only a certain type of man would abandon his family for another woman. I guess they are “equals.” Those were his words on that video.

While Mashonda still seems hurt by the affair and Alicia and Swizz’s complete disregard for her feelings, she seems to be dealing with the divorce very maturely. She ended her conversation with this:

My self esteem and my son. She also made sure to send over a few photos from her pregnancy “so you can get an idea of how happy we were, since he claims unhappiness for the past 10 years…”
