Funeral arrangements have been made for local mentor Corey Alexander. Alexander was shot and killed last week by a former mentee Antomar Jones. Jones was charged with murder, assault, and handgun charges. The other victim, Anthony Taylor, is still recovering in the hospital.

Shortly after this story was posted on 92Q.com, Taylor had this to say: “I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. Corey and I love you all. He was very spiritual and like his mother, our mother said Ms. Sally he is right here with me. Thanks for all your concern. They’ll be removing the bullet from my head soon. I’m pushing on for both of us.”

The funeral arrangements are as follows:

March Funeral Home, 4300 Wabash Avenue

Family Hour 11:30 am

Service begins at 12:00

Please be sure to keep Anthony Taylor in your prayers. Taylor is still in the hospital awaiting surgery to remove a bullet lodged in his head. Both Alexander and Taylor attended Baltimore City College High School and as a fellow City Knight it pains me to learn that so many lives have been forever changed by such a callous act at the hands of a young man Alexander once mentored. CITY FOREVER!

Sunday evening past City College students held vigil outside “The Castle On The Hill.” President of  the Urban Leadership Institute and former teacher at City College HS, Lamarr Shields,  had this to say about the gathering: “I’m so excited to have been invited to such an awesome vigil for my former student and friend, Corey Jamal Alexander. The members of Baltimore City College High School Class of 98, and others, made me so proud today. Your strength, courage, and empathy for Corey, Anthony, and the shooter, was truly heartfelt, as we stood in front of the Castle on the Hill reminiscing, praying, crying and rejoicing for our brother. As a teacher, who watched you guys grow physically, it gave me a renewed since of hope for the work that I’ve been called to do. May the Creator continue bless you and your children.”

Also please keep the alleged shooter Antomar Jones in your prayers. None of us are aware of the circumstances that lead to him taking the wrong path in life but his life-long internal struggle has just begun.
