Reggie Bush is expected to lose his Heisman Trophy by the end of September.

Bush would become the first player in the 75-year history of the award to have the trophy taken away. The NCAA found major violations in the Trojans’ football program in June and levied serious sanctions against the school.Two sources close to the Heisman trust said the body’s investigation is coming to a close, and will ultimately concur with the NCAA’s determination that Bush was ineligible during his Heisman-winning season in 2005. Because of that independent conclusion, sources said the trust will relieve Bush of the award and leave the honor for that season vacant. The sources said Bush met with Heisman representatives last month at the New York law offices of Emmet, Marvin & Martin. The sources would not reveal details of that meeting.

he Heisman trust has been conducting its own independent inquiry into Bush’s eligibility since the NCAA ruled in June that the USC star had committed multiple violations by accepting cash, gifts and other impermissible benefits while playing for the Trojans. Yahoo! Sports first detailed the extra benefits in September 2006. In its findings, the NCAA retroactively ruled Bush ineligible for part of the 2004 season and all of 2005. The NCAA also ordered the USC program to remove all references to Bush from its sporting venues and promotional materials and vacate his statistics from all games in which he was ineligible.

Food and Water

At the beginning of Hurricane Season, stockpile a closet or cabinet in you kitchen or garage with at least 3 days’ worth of nonperishable food items and bottled water for you and your family. Figure on each person requiring 1 gallon of water per day, and opt for foods that require no refrigeration or cooking. Granola bars, power bars, peanut butter, crackers, and canned goods (like fruits, vegetables, and meat) are smart choices because they’ll provide you with a little variety, but won’t run the risk of spoiling. Keeping disposable cups, dishes and utensils on hand is also a good idea, so you’ll always have clean eating utensils, even if you’re unable to wash dishes.

Sanitation Supplies

Before the storm hits, make sure that you’re more than adequately stocked up on both personal and household sanitation supplies, like alcohol-based hand sanitizer, soaps and liquid detergents, toilet paper, tissues, paper towels, disinfectant, chlorine bleach, and plenty of heavy-duty garbage bags.

Clean Laundry

You never know what post-hurricane conditions may be, and if you’re without power or your water supply is contaminated, washing clothes may not be an option. If it’s at all possible, take some time during the pre-hurricane craziness to do as much laundry as possible, so that you have plenty of clean clothing, towels and bedding to last you at least several days.

First Aid Kit

Be ready for everything from cuts and scrapes to sprains and insect bites by having a fully-loaded first aid kit on hand. Must-have items include adhesive bandages, gauze, medical tape, tweezers, alcohol wipes, antibiotic ointment, burn gel, hydrocortisone cream, and even wrap-style bandages to provide support for injured ankles or wrists.

Prescription Medicines

If you or a family member is living with a health condition that requires daily prescription medication, make sure that you have enough doses on hand to last you through the storm and up to a week of possible pharmacy downtime afterward. Also, remember to check your supply of occasional-use medicines like asthma inhalers, antihistamines and pain relievers/fever reducers; having an adequate supply of these can help prevent minor medical issues from flaring into full-blown emergencies when a trip to the doctor may not be an option.

The National Hurricane Center has upgraded Hurricane Earl to a category 4 storm with winds strengthening to 145 mph overnight. The path of the storm has not changed. A hurricane watch and tropical storm warnings are posted for the entire state of Maryland and Delaware Atlantic coastline.

If forecasters at the National Hurricane Center are right, the Cat. 4 storm’s center, and its most dangerous effects, will stay offshore as the storm track curves gradually to the northeast and toward southeastern New England.

According to the Washington Post Lloyds of London has written an insurance policy for Pittsburgh Steelers star Troy Polamalu’s hair.

Polamalu, who missed 11 games last season due to injury, has not cut his hair in over ten years in tribute to his Samoan ancestors. The Samson like tresses have earned him a product endorsement for Head and Shoulders shampoo, whose parent company felt it was necessary to safeguard their investment to the tune of $1 Million.

“They’ve created the first ever insurance policy to protect his iconic mane for the entire NFL season,” Procter & Gamble said in a statement.

Causes of high blood pressure:

Poor Diet – Salty and fatty foods, specifically those that contain high concentration of saturated fats are major contributors to hypertension.

Obesity – People who are overweight have a higher rate of high blood pressure.

Lack of physical activity – Excersize helps the heart in many ways and conversly an inactive lifestyle can lead to high blood pressure.

Age – As people get older their risk of developing hypertension increases.

Stress – People who reported high levels of stress were more likely to have high blood pressure.

Drinking too much alcohol – Anything more than 2 drinks per day for men and 1 drink per day for women can lead to high blood pressure.

Smoking and second-hand smoke – Smoking temporarily increases blood pressure and can damage arteries. Even second-hand smoke increases the risk of heart disease and hypertension.

The rapper is an avid tennis fan as well.

Sports Illustrated recently sent Weezy a letter asking the incarcerated rapper to weigh in on the upcoming US Open, and the rapper was surprisingly knowledgeable about the sport!

I genuinely appreciate this opportunity to express my love for tennis.  One of the main reasons I enjoy the sport so much is because when I actually tried to play, it was unbelievably difficult.  So ever since, I’ve been drawn to the great talents of the game.  Not to mention Andre Agassi was like a pop star when I was a kid.  I love the Williams sisters. I simply adore Maria Sharadova and I’m a huge [Rafael] Nadal fan!  I’m definitely rooting for him to get the Grand slam and win the US Open.  He’s already became [sic] the 2nd youngest player to win 8 major titles before the age of 25.  He’s halfway there to Roger [Federer's] 16. And even while battling knee tendonitis, he’s still ranked #1.  His Wimbledon performance was one of a kind.  He simply plays with pure passion and leaves it all out there on the court.  With [Juan Martín] Del Potro pulling out of this years Open with injury, Nadal’s only threats are obviously Federer, Djokovic, and Roddick’s aggressive play, but the player that scares me the most is Andy Murray who’s beaten Rafael four times.  Even still I say “Nadal wins it all.”

And by the way, I’m giving the edge to [Kim] Clijsters in the Women’s singles due to Serena’s right foot. Again, I’m very thankful for this opportunity.

According to reports, mediation between the two rap heavyweights over Knight’s case against West in relation to a 2005 shooting may continue via a phone session.

Hip-Hop star Kanye West, who is currently tied to a lawsuit filed by rap mogul Marion “Suge” Knight, does not have to attend a scheduled mediation session in person. Instead the “Power” MC can take part in the session by phone, ruled a Miami federal judge. West’s lawyers argued that he was going to be out of the country because of a long-standing business commitment. Knight, who was shot in the leg at a 2005 Miami Beach party hosted by West, seeks more than $1 million in damages for the lack of security.

LeBron James hasn’t played one game for the Miami Heat but he won’t rule out playing for his old team the Cavaliers one day.

After making his decision to leave the Cavs to play for The Heat the team’s owner Dan Gilbert posted a hateful letter on the Cav’s website calling James a traitor. In an interview with GQ magazine LeBron responds to the letter stating that the comments have given him “motivation” for the first time the Heat play the Cavs this season.

James said of Gilbert’s late-night letter: “I don’t think he ever cared about LeBron. My mother always told me: ‘You will see the light of people when they hit adversity. You’ll get a good sense of their character.’ Me and my family have seen the character of that man.”

However, he hasn’t ruled out returning to Cleveland later in his career despite the hard feelings expressed by the fans and the owner.

“If there was an opportunity for me to return [to Cleveland] … and those fans welcome me back, that’d be a great story,” he says.

James returns to Cleveland to play  his old team for the first time on December 2 and plays the Cavs three more times on December 15th, January 31st and March 29th.
