Rihanna is Vogue’s latest cover girl, and in the accompanying feature, the bad gyal reveals that her forthcoming project may be a Marley-inspired reggae album.

“Though it’s too soon to name a full list of collaborators, one early influence may be Supa Dups, the Jamaican-born record producer who has worked with such dancehall greats as Beenie Man, Sean Paul, and Elephant Man,” Vogue fashion news director Chioma Nnandi writes. It makes sense. In 2005, the artist once known as Little Miss Sunshine tapped Elephant Man for a “Pon de Replay” remix. You may also recall her 2006 Sean Paul collab, “Break It Off,” which peaked at number nine on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and number six on the Mainstream Top 40 chart.

As previously reported, R9 will likely come in the form of a double disc project, with one disc offering “chart-friendly songs” and the other offering “moody and experimental tracks.” Who knows what the final product is going to sound like, but while we bask in all our Fenty-charged Barbadian dreams, here’s a recap of all the times RiRi revisited her island roots.
