Mary J’s been going through it.
In July, Mary J. Blige filed for divorce from her husband of 12 years Kendu Isaacs, and recently she found herself in a social media firestorm when people criticized her for a song she sang in a Hillary Clinton promotional video. Despite all the drama, Mary J. is continuing to push forward.
After performing “Thick Of It” at a show earlier this month, Mary finally releases the CDQ version of the song.
“What a hell of a year/ If I make it through hell and I come out alive I got nothing to fear,” she sings. “No more crying and trying/ And bring back this loving when nothing is here/ Let me be clear/ I wasn’t perfect/ But this shit ain’t worth it.”
“Thick Of It” will be featured on Mary’s forthcoming Strength Of A Woman LP, which boasts features from Kanye West and Jazmine Sullivan. Mary will also hit the road on a collaborative “King + Queen Of Hearts” tour with R&B veteran Maxwell.
