At the urging of Bill Cosby’s accusers, California’s Governor signed a bill to end the statue of limitations for rape.

California Governor Jerry Brown signed Bill SB 813, ending the statue of limitations on rape, inspired by years of accusations from victims against comedian Bill Cosby. The bill takes effect Jan. 1, 2017.

Cosby is still on trial for 2004 charges of felony indecent assault in a case that had been previously settled out of court.
