Today, the White House announced that the eldest Obama daughter Malia has chosen to attend Harvard University. But the high school senior, 17, will not be attending school right away. In a statement released by the East Wing on Sunday, President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama announced that Malia “will take a gap year before beginning school.” This means she will attend Harvard in the fall of 2017. Maine police officials say that W-18, a synthetic opioid, is to blame for for the mass uptick in drug overdoses in 2015. W-18 is 10,000 times more potent than morphine, and one hit of the white powder can be fatal. Officials across the border in Canada said in a health warning last year that W-18 was found in samples of seized drugs including heroin. [WMTW]
