It’s being reported that Prince’s death is being investigated by the DEA as the late singer was found with prescription painkillers when he died. It hasn’t been revealed whether the medication played a part in his passing, but sources say Prince was once addicted to Percocet.

“An autopsy of Prince’s body was conducted just one day after he was found unresponsive in an elevator at his famed Paisley Park estate outside Minneapolis. While the medical examiner found “no obvious signs of trauma,” toxicology reports may take weeks to complete.”

The DEA was brought in to help track down the origin of the pills and to see what other drugs Prince might have been on to determine the cause of death. Shortly before he passed, the singer’s health caused for an emergency landing.  He was unresponsive when he was rushed to the hospital and doctors needed a “save shot” in order to resuscitate him.

This comes on heels of news he’d stayed up for six days straight shortly before a week or so before he was found unconscious in his Paisley Park home. A complete toxicology probably won’t be known for another month. With that said, the singer has already been cremated and his ashes have been transferred from the hospital.
