valentines day.Digital Vision.getty

One of the biggest misconceptions is that Valentines Day is a huge commercial holiday just for the ladies but in recent years guys have admitted they are just as excited as their significant other. Ladies, take note. Instead of expecting gifts and a romantic evening from your beau, put some thought into making HIM feel just as special. Not sure what to do for the man in your life? Here are a few tips:

1. Dress up and take him on a date.

Pick out a sexy little red ensemble and take him to that restaurant he’s been dying to try for months now. Make reservations earlier in the day before the crowd comes in.

2. If he loves beer, buy it and buy lots of it.

What guy doesn’t like an ice cold beer? Take note of what his favorite brew is and gift it to your beau. He’ll be relaxed and you’ll reap the benefits ;0)

3. Buy him tickets to a game.

So the football season is basically over but he is a fan of basketball. Scan the web and splurge on a game not too far from home. And even if you don’t know what’s going on on the court, put on a sexy chic ensemble and bask in looking amazing while sitting courtside with your man.

4. Have dinner in bed.

So he knows you would love dinner at your favorite restaurant but he hates big crowds. Compromise and have dinner in bed. You may just end up as dessert.

5. Patronize Victoria’s Secret.

He’s been hinting trying to get you to come out of your shell with a new piece of lingerie. Make his night and show him you’ve been listening. Who doesn’t love a happy ending?

6. Customize a care package with all his favorite things.

Show him just how well you know and appreciate him. Think of all his favorite snacks, beverages, movies and magazines and create a nice care package for him to use while watching a game or unwinding on a lazy Sunday afternoon. He’ll appreciate just how thoughtful you are.

7. Splurge on a hotel room.

Sometimes you just need a change of scenery to set the mood. Leave the kids with a sitter and make the most of your quiet, romantic night alone. Let your imagination run wild. And don’t forget to order room service for breakfast in bed.

Don’t get overwhelmed by the pressure of it all. Remember if you’re truly in love, Valentines Day is 365 days a year. Just LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH!
