Dre’s ‪#‎breakfastbite‬.. What’s your thoughts on the more than 15,000 vacant properties in Baltimore? ‪#‎92q‬ ‪#‎baltimore‬ ‪#‎FRIDAY‬ ‪#‎maryland‬ ‪#‎bmore

Yvonne Artis THE VACANT PROPERTIES MAKE THE CITY LOOK BAD, IT`S VERY DISHEARTENING, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU SEE IT IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD YOU GREW UP IN! STOP SPENDING MONEY TO BEAUTIFY THE HARBOR, AND REBUILD THESE HOUSES, SO THT PPL MAY HAVE SOMEWHERE TO LIVE, LET THE TOURIST SEE BEAUTIFUL HOMES, WHEN THEY COME HERE NOT RAGGEDY PROPERTIES!!

Dara J Kent I’m trying to get my money right so I can buy a couple

larri alston‏@larrialston @DreJohnson1 Violent crime being rampant, u can’t honestly expect any1 2 desire 2 live or keep shop there*It would b a bad investment! #TGIF

Matthew E. Bradby II‏@BishopBradbee @DreJohnson1 GM its a shame for a so called progressive city to have such an eye sore, safety hazard & property devaluing element.

DJ Bunk‏@IAMDJBUNK @92QJamsBmore @DreJohnson1 James the great is #TurnUp this morning, nice mix

Dani- Renee‏@danilovinmylocs @DreJohnson1 the city need to offer grants to fix them up and allow people to purchase them at low costs.

Toiya Best‏@ThickDiva428 @DreJohnson1 It’s Ridiculous, they should be torn down and rebuilt to liveable housing! They have money for everything else! Gm

djbunk1058@drejohnson1 the the mayor & the City needs to do more and Us as the people of Baltimore need to take care of our community’s

killakabonlineGM .. It will take time .. But eventually they will tear them down and rebuild the city .. Once people live better — hopefully they’ll do better

yo_ricoBMore has a great program for those who want to renovate one of those vacant homes. Lenders, contractors, and tax breaks. Sheila Dixon was working hard at that

kingnubia122Its a money thing, they should close som prisons use dat money to byild business and provide jobs,Then people can afford to buy them and fix them up…likr pennsylvania ave. In da 60’s 70’s and 80’s

iimnikoaKnock them down and rebuild. A lot of people are trying to move back into the city. There are a lot of investors coming in from everywhere and taking over , buying re doing and putting the houses back on the market .

comedianij@DreJohnson1 If Rollings-Blake stop taking these unexplained vacations to Vegas and use that money to restore them, they would be available for owning. The city owns 90% of them. I guess she says receiving tax credit for them is better then selling them.

brian_scott33City should rehab and create a program where they can sell them as low cost housing. Similar to the welfare to work program.

drmeemz2bIt’s not just houses there’s vacant dilapidated commercial buildings too which makes this city look so broken and dirty when there’s a lot of good going on here also. But the negativity overshadows it. The city should own that and rebuild it all not just the harbor

tuhirmusic1The city needs to sell them for cheap and grants to help rebuild them. I know a few organizations trying to buy them before Johns Hopkins buys everything.

priveledge_gramIts a testament to the warfare our community is engaged in

danij79Don’t worry Hopkins will buy it all soon @drejohnson1

sinsational_cakes_shia@drejohnson1 Gm. They need to renovate and make homes for the homeless with my tax dollars. They take enough of it…

jbb427Take men and women from the neighborhood. Provide them hands on training to learn a trade like carpentry or electrician. Have them rebuild these home AND here is kicker, have these people at the end of the day OWN these homes. Basically get people back to work. Get people back into these homes and into these pockets of empty ness and I really think it would be a step in the right direction. Maybe that’s my utopian dream but I really think if the mayor did more innovative stuff like this the city would be a Mich better place. Thx all

jbb427Like say to me, hey you are not working and on unemployment. How about we take this otherwise eye soar, pay you to work and learn a skill and at the end of the day we basically give u the house for free. I would sign up today!

jenylyte813Something really needs to me done it ridiculous. I think that when it’s 5-6 house in a row they should knock then down and build new houses or a mid-rise senior citizen apt building. Or even a homeless shelter. They just let them sit there. They need to crack down in the ppl who own the property.

tshane85There are a lot of beautiful rehabbed homes popping up all over the city so I think they are working on the situation. It’ll definitely take some time though.

uniquely_1me5 words… “WHAT ABOUT REAL HOMELESS PEOPLE???”

uniquely_1meThat property could be rehabbed for sum of the real homelessness and work towards building businesses as well so they can work and try to earn a living while living in rehabbed housing!!! City sucks with all these vacant properties!!! And wonder why JH taking over east bmore lls

sosincerecbIts a damn shame! The Mayor is so focused on businesses moving here and developing but could care less about the people. Homeowners losing property value because of foreclosed..vacant..abandoned properties surrounding them. No affordable housing for renters. And no recourse for slumlords holding up dilapidated real estate all over the city. First chance I get..I’m out of Maryland. Takes so much from the working (poor) with nothing in return to show for it. @drejohnson1

imabossboo@drejohnson1 its sad & unfortunate that our city hasnt done something about this. They work on whats important to them NOT us once they are in office… Things have got to change😏 #ridiculous

daveth3kingThey are going to revamp them or tear them down and make housing. They really don’t have much choice as the population grows.
