Dre’s #breakfastbite.. The LA school system plans to replace textbooks with iPads for all students. Would you like to see this in Maryland? #thursday #baltimore #92q#bmore

Ki Ki Brown They better out chains on them! These kids take pencils and calculators!

Keisha Henson I’d like to see books period. A lot of these schools don’t have books at all. Gm Dre

Anthony Baker Nope..I’m from the old school. Books in class rooms.

Djuana Fair No,not at all. Learning isn’t supposed to be convenient. They need to earn a education

Yvonne Artis Yes, I think it would benefit them. I`m pretty sure this would keep them more interested in doing their work, especially the lil ones they love electronics.

Dominic Day Sr. No, wutz next gettin rid of libraries & U think crime iz bad N our schools now, wut do U think will happen if U put Xpensive tablets N there…come on man

Lakerforlife Trav Nope, its a gift and a curse situation. The gift of it is it will reduce the amount of storage you need for textbooks and make room for other use of classroom but the curse is technology is shrinking our children’s brain. Technology has made all of us take the short cut instead of manually learning. In the next 20 to 30 years our kids will have trouble reading and writing on their own.

Raven Boone No…smh they need a better curriculum.

Daphne Brown Don’t even stress about it, baltimore wouldn’t be able to afford the IPads anyway

uniquely_1me Now u kno md always crying broke when the officials pocketing the money and paying for o’malley to try to run for presidency lol smh

ashleybrewton I’m sorry to say but, if our students got this in schools out here they wouldn’t take care of it. That’s my opinion. All we need out here are new books and teachers that actually care about students & not just a paycheck!

bigmarco711 @drejohnson1 If Maryland doesn’t steal the money it would be a great idea for our kids

iimnikoa No. If they are killing and stealing over iPods, imagine what would happen if that happens.

djbunk1058 @drejohnson1 iPads around blacks lol, they going come up short, GM fam

urbaninformer @Drejohnson1 I agree with @iimnikoa but the sad part is, at some point with technology this iPads will become the new textbooks

byghurt That’s jot goun ti work here ….they’ll end up being pawned ir sold

nastiboi79 No cause somehow some way they are going to find a way to steal money from the schools

nastiboi79 @bigmarco711 agreed but they will find a way

certifiedswaggin Hell no cause everyone’s parents can’t afford it

shanham12 As a history teacher I know there is a plus and minus to the replacement. Plus it doesn’t limit the information given and interpreted. Minus is the fact when they reach college or another field they won’t be able to fully utilize a text book. Machines break and are more likely to get stolen.

billionairecuts Absolutely! Statewide, not just in select counties and not city schools last!

shanicakes0902 No we need to get back to simplicity! Maybe in the libraries or computer labs ad a bonus or something. But we live in a time when most kids don’t know how to mail a letter, much less write a letter using correct English. Because they don’t make handwriting mandatory. Kids are pushed through. Everything is standardized and made super easy so the school system looks like its excelling when really its failing. So when these kids graduate they are ill prepared for real life. IPads are am accessory not a necessity! Let’s keep it simple and focus on what is really important…Educating our Kids!!!

larri alston‏@larrialston @drejohnson1 Support improving the learning environment with qualified staff, ac in the summer or nutritional lunches. IPads r over doing it

Helen Washington‏@LynnWashington @drejohnson1 There are schools in MD piloting that program now. Has its drawbacks, but that’s the direction technology is going in.

Alichia Cruz‏@tweetAcruz @DreJohnson1 yes md needs to keep up. soon our cars will drive themselves. they have drones that deliver pizza in europe.

Matthew E. Bradby II‏@MatthewBradby @DreJohnson1 GM…its a must that we began integrating technology into the school system for it saves money & makes our kids competitive.

mrsjodijay‏@mrsjodijay @DreJohnson1 noooooo! As a teacher, I know that’ll be a distraction for our kids. Great idea but not practical…IMO gm 😊

J.P.‏@PhrozenACE1949 @DreJohnson1 they can do whatever they want as long as they don’t try to tax us more

Keith Savage‏@KleverKarta @DreJohnson1 Bmore should do this for students with a 3.0 GPA and better ONLY they’ve got to work for it not just given.
