I have to take this time out to congratulate my co-worker and sister of the airwaves DJ Angel Baby who recently broke the news that she will be launching her non-profit organization Urban Artemis Foundation, a mentoring program that caters to high school aged students from 13-18. I can honestly say that DJ Angel Baby is a hard worker! She’s constantly on the go and that’s what it’s all about! She’s a BLACK GIRL THAT ROCKS!!!
It’s so easy to get distracted when you’re constantly watching reality TV and your screen is taken over by basketball wives, bad girls, and Jersey Shore chicks. Remember ladies, it’s just TV! It’s all to get the ratings! Those lives are edited and real life is NOT! Who are your role models? Is it your mom? Your teacher? Your aunt or grandmother? Is your role model an entertainer? Make sure that person feeds you nothing but positivity because the negative will only feed you pain later on. That’s what we don’t see on TV.
This Sunday, BET will broadcast BLACK GIRLS ROCK, hosted by Traci Ellis Ross and Regina King (7PM EST) and this event is designed to recognize some awesome women who excel in various areas of business, entertainment and social activisim.
Take note of the accomplishments made by some awesome women close to home! Take heed and then TAKE OVER!!! You can do it! Be a BLACK GIRL that ROCKS!!!
