What’s up HBCU Alum, students and fans !

The Jaguars of Southern University earned their first win of the season, upsetting the Tigers of Jackson State 28 to 21! Southern lost their head coach Stump Mitchell based on his leading the Jags to 6 wins in two years. The Blue and Gold took to the field against the odds Saturday lead by interim head coach Dawson Odums. Jackson State knew they were in for a fight as Southern’s Jaleel Richardson returned the opening kick-off 86 yards for the first of three Jaguar first half touchdowns! Southern quarterback Dray Joseph was Coach Odums coach on the field passing for 249 yards and three touchdowns on the day and engineering the Jags to a Boom Box Classic win!

Meanwhile there are only three unbeaten schools in all of black college football and Alabama A&M is one. The Bull Dogs got a stellar performance from quarterback Deaunte Mason who passed for 231 yards and two touchdowns while running for three more (wow)! Mason’s heroics lead the now 4-0 Bulldogs to a 42 to 13 thrashing of the Tigers of Texas Southern.

The defending Black College National Champion Winston-Salem State Rams are now 4-0 as well after beating Virginia Union 35 to 6 and Tennessee State is unbeaten at 4-0 thanks to their 21-14 Win over Bethune-Cookman in a battle of top ten Cats!

Closer to Baltimore : the Bulldogs of Bowie State suffer their first loss of the season at the talons of the Falcons of St Augustine’s 38 to 16, Howard and Morgan State had the week off.
