I want to give a special thanks to Take A Walk In My Shoes and all of the participating group home organizations that helped put in yet another successful community event. Because of your sacrifices in giving up your new/slightly worn shoes, you helped us collect over 400 pairs of shoes for young men ages 10-17 who are currently living in area group homes. These shoes will help motivate them to look for a job, present themselves appropriately for court hearings and build their confidence that is needed.

I especially want to thank DTLR, The Y of Central MD, Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Family Center, Papa Johns, and UTZ potato chips for their support! The boys wouldn’t have been able to pick out their shoes if it weren’t for the Black Greek Fraternities (Omega Psi Phi, Phi Beta Sigma, and Iota Phi Theta Fraternities, Incorporated).

This event was another example of NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND!!!

I’d like to share a letter that I received this morning from a parent whose child participated in the event:

“…the event was life changing for one of our boys. My husband said that one that never smiles really enjoyed himself, was smiling, said he liked the Sigma’s that they really talked to him on his level and he now wants to go to college and also wants to be a Sigma. unbelievable ,,,brought tears to my eyes. Keep up the good work Kiki! You should be really proud of the work you are doing.”

It’s time to make a difference on every level! You don’t have to be a radio personality or a politician looking for votes to make a change! It starts with a passionate heart and faith! Thanks again! Photos and videos will be posted at 92Q.com shortly!
